June is now here, and I have a month and a half until I return to the US. I look forward to this with great anticipation. Truth be told, I am highly unsatisfied living a leisurely life here in Europe (Boo-hoo, I know). I read a lot and keep busy with multiple projects, however, nothing really remarkable happens (and there is nothing superlative about that). Tourism, sure, it’s something to write home about, but for me, it’s not productive enough. Which brings me here.
My advice to myself - try harder - even if it hurts.
Lately, I have been distracted by a number of things, mainly friends, entertainment, travel, etc. Because of this, I have also not been engaged in anything online other than the occasional peek at my netvibes account, email and some darn good articles on guerilla gardening, SATC,walruses; among other peripheral things.
After being in Paris several times, amounting to several weeks, I have not come close to finishing all the tourist stuff here (although, I have covered most all of the basics: Lourve, Eiffel, Notre Dame, etc). In the end, it’s all so overwhelming that I might consider burying myself in the catacombs, out of humility.
All that aside, I was lucky to see my cousin perform in the Paris opera last night, and happy to have a long conversation with a friend of mine who just spent several months living with buddist monks in Thailand. After all that, I wander, longing for productivity, or at least something more obvious.
